5 brain tips for when you can’t focus during work

Concentration is super important if you want to reach your short-term and long-term goals for production. One of the most difficult challenges for everyone is figuring out how to focus when a hundred other things are going on around them. To mention a few, our time-wasting habits, distractions, and annoying people all contribute to our inability to focus. These elements may have a detrimental impact on your productivity and general efficiency.

If it’s hard for you to stay focused at work, here are 5 super effective tips to help you better focus at our and to block out distractions and stay on task.

Does that describe what you’re going through right now? Well, don’t panic because it’s a very common thing to go through especially when you’re an entrepreneur in a very competitive world. Here are four proven ideas for restoring your business mojo:

1- Manage your distractions

Text messages, emails, or phone calls from home can get in the way of your work. Changes in your life, like moving to a new neighborhood or starting a family, can also keep you from getting things done. Though taking short breaks to check personal emails, social media, or texts can help you focus overall, you can always block your texts, put your phone on a “Do not disturb mode” for 10 to 15 minutes.

2- Did you check your inbox?

Email is another activity that is both unpleasant and distracting. Every day, you receive a large number of emails, both professional and personal. What’s intriguing is that you receive emails while working on the most essential activity of the day. You can avoid this confusion by using a different email address for work and personal matters. Set your preferred filters and schedule a time to monitor and respond to your emails. Limiting your email time is a terrific approach to spend more time doing things that matter while maintaining your attention.

3- Don’t overload yourself

Not everyone is born with the ability to do many things at once, but most of us do it anyway. The many things we do every day and how often we switch between them are likely to make you tired and easily distracted. And it defeats the whole point of trying to do more than one thing at once.

A study by the American Psychological Association found that switching back and forth between tasks makes it harder to finish any of them on time. It doesn’t save time; in fact, it does the exact opposite. We also lose focus and make more mistakes when we try to do more than two things at the same time.

4- Put some background music on

Listening to specific types of music may help you concentrate at work. According to a recent article, background music, sounds and frequencies have the ability to change the mood of the listener.

To be more specific, it was claimed that listening to happy music with slow tempos could actually increase your performance. It is not incorrect to state that listening to background music improves concentration, eliminates distractions, and even makes a tiresome work more enjoyable. Test it out to see if it works for you, we suggest you listen to the Vault of Ambience and Ambient worlds on youtube.

5- Get some rest, you earned it

Getting enough sleep can not only help you concentrate in the morning, but it may also make it easier for you to concentrate all day long. The average amount of sleep that adults should get each night is between six and nine hours. You might want to keep your screens like tablets, TV and smartphones away from your bedroom that will keep you up at night. Preparing a nice cup of a warm herbal tea can help you sleep through the night. If you’re having trouble focusing in the middle of your workday, you might want to take a short nap during your scheduled break. A five- to ten-minute nap can help you get your energy back.

Concentration is like a muscle. Exercise improves it. You can teach your brain to focus with practice and determination. It’s super effective and important to adopt these easy tips and methods like the ones mentioned above. Knowing how to focus will help you stay on track with daily responsibilities.
