SnS Design CEO/Founder Nisha Sawhney Wins 2023 NYC Innovation Award From World Trade Week NYC
NEW YORK CITY, May 1, 2023 — Nisha Sawhney, Founder/CEO of SnS Design, Inc. of New York City, is the winner of the 2023 NYC Innovation Award from World Trade Week NYC.
Born in India and with clients around the globe, Sawhney — “The Woman Who Could Design Anything, And Did” — is an industrial designer who innovates successful consumer products that sell for top-tier companies, including LG, Whirlpool, Eddie Bauer, Rosco, LiFeng, Temptu, and more. She has been awarded utility and design patents for many consumer products.
The 2023 NYC Innovation Award recognizes those who have implemented a new idea or approach that has made a positive contribution to the field of international trade. World Trade Week NYC is part of an annual nationwide celebration of international trade observed by business- and trade-related organizations across the U.S. in May. The mission of World Trade Week NYC is to promote the importance of international trade to the tri-state region, where the innovation economy is heavily dependent upon international commerce.
“For someone who moved to New York nearly two decades ago to be at the nexus of global innovation,” Sawhney said, “this award is a fantastic honor. In today’s market, New Yorkers recognize that it’s the global marketplace, and not just the U.S., that changes design. Some people want to design and sell a product to a big company,” she said, “and some want to manufacture it themselves, while others want to do something else. For us, successful industrial design is conceptualizing — including the whole business strategy — right from the start.”
Sawhney is a female entrepreneur flourishing in an industry dominated by men. She specializes in guiding and supporting entrepreneurs, startups, businesses, manufacturers, and Fortune 500 companies not just in conceptualization but in detailed development of medical devices, consumer products and electronics, home appliances, and technology that propels innovation.
The real satisfaction in industrial design, Sawhney believes, is in combining informed design with informed materials choices so that the product is fast to market, user-friendly, aesthetically appealing, very durable, and, most important, superbly functional.
Sawhney delivers ideas that catalyze change. An inventor in her own right, Sawhney has rolled out an extensive list of successful product designs at SnS Design from concept to production — most recently designing the iPill dispenser. Her expertise includes:
- Mechanical design and engineering
- Electrical design and engineering
- Patent-related support
- Branding, packaging, graphics, point of purchase, 3D renderings, animations
- Pre-sale presentation
- Prototype, manufacturing, fulfillment
Thinking globally is a trademark of SnS Design. Sawhney consistently converts ideas into marketable products by embracing a holistic philosophy of innovation that is grounded in thorough market research. The result is a proven success rate with clients not only in the U.S., but the UK, Switzerland, Japan, Israel, India, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Hong Kong, and China.
Sawhney has served as a project manager handling product design and development for clients that include Zipz wine — which was the biggest deal in Shark Tank history.
Sawhney has been featured as a:
- Juror for a decade at The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES);
- Panelist and speaker at CES events;
- Focus group and product design expert volunteer who helps MAKE48 inventors;
- On advisory board of The United Inventors Association;
- Coach of MBA students at New York University, high school students at Teen Design Fair, and underprivileged female youth; and
- Guest CEO profiled on WCBS Newsradio 880 AM’s “CEO Radio With Ray Hoffman,” MAKE48 (PBS show), among other media opportunities.
Nisha was valedictorian with a master’s degree in Industrial design and bachelor’s in architecture. She has been awarded utility and design patents for consumer and medical products.
